Does Travel Insurance Cover Annual Timeshare Fees?

by Steve Dasseos on April 6, 2009

Steve, My wife and I are planning a trip to Calif. next October. We’re exchanging a week at our Hilton Head timeshare for a week at the Welk resort in Escondido. It costs us $950 a year to have the timeshare. Can we insure our vacation against an illness, etc. so that we can recover our $950 if we have to cancel our vacation. Richard

Hi Richard,

No, travel insurance will not cover your $950 annual cost to have your timeshare. You can insure any prepaid, non-refundable trip costs you incur to get to California like airfare, train tickets, etc.

Here’s a more complete list of what’s covered: https://tripinsurancestore.com/what-does-trip-cancellation-travel-insurance-cover/

I hope this makes sense. If you want the right travel insurance advice, call us at 1-888-407-3854 and we'll help you figure it all out.
