Travel Insurance For School & Student Groups
There’s one exception to the exclusions: You can get policies that let you cancel your trip for any reason. Click here to see the details. Without a “Cancel For Any Reason” plan, you may not be able to cover your school & student groups exactly for the scenarios you want. |
Not-Covered Events That May Impact School & Student Groups
Here are some specific exclusions your school group needs to know about:
- Not feeling safe to travel (volcanoes, swine flu, bird flu, terrorism threats or concerns, civil unrest)
- War (whether declared or undeclared)
- Your school or advisory board cancels your child’s trip
- Change in plans (“I just don’t want to go”)
- Any government regulation or prohibition
- Failure of any tour operator, Common Carrier, person or agency to provide the bargained-for travel arrangements. Note: this is different from Financial Default.
Travel Insurance only covers “Listed Unforeseen Events”. No more. No less.
This means that if the event’s not specifically named as a covered reason, you won’t have a valid claim. Or, put another way: a travel insurance plan only covers you for the perils or events that are listed in its Description of Coverage. If it’s not listed (or specifically <excluded) it’s not covered.
How Travel Insurance Will Help Your School’s Group
The best use of travel insurance is to cover medical emergencies and trip cancellation or interruption:
Travel Insurance is designed for trip cancellation / interruption due to sickness, injury or death of the traveler or a family member and medical coverage for leisure travel like cruises, tours and airplane trips in and outside the USA.
