Are You Worried About Getting Sick on Your Cruise or Tour? Here's How Travel Insurance Covers Noro Virus, Norwalk, Cruise Ship Sickness, SARS or Bird Flu:
If you want a Travel Insurance plan that lets you cancel your trip for any reason including not wanting to travel because you're worried about getting sick, click here to see the details |
Here's how the Travel Insurance plans we represent will cover you:
You can change your dates of travel prior to your departure date. This means that if you want to postpone your trip, you won't forfeit your travel insurance. If your trip cost is the same, there's no extra cost nor refund due you. Important: changing travel dates means you are not making any kind of claim for your original trip. Filing a claim prevents you from changing your dates.
Travel Insured will cover your airline tickets if your travel supplier cancels its portion.
You can't cancel or interrupt your trip if you don't feel safe. The only exception is a Cancel For Any Reason plan. Keep in mind that it's only "Cancel For Any Reason" and not "Interrupt For Any Reason".
If you first contract NoroVirus, Bird Flu, SARS or any other illness while you're on your trip, all the plans we represent will cover you under the medical portion of your travel insurance policy provided you seek the initial treatment on your trip. If you insured your trip cost, you also have trip interruption coverage.
What if I have already have Noro Virus, Norwalk, Cruise Ship Sickness, SARS or Bird Flu or any other sickness or illness?
If you already have a sickness or illness, you need to be sure you get Pre-Existing Medical Conditions is coverage. If you want to waive the pre-existing medical condition exclusion for cancellation, interruption & medical treatment, you have to fulfill these 4 requirements:
With 2 exceptions (HTH & Travelex), you have to insure at least your trip's full prepaid, non-refundable cost (you can't round it down). If you don't know your final trip cost, estimate it high to be safe. You can always lower to the correct trip cost prior to your departure date. If it drops you to a lower trip cost range, you'll get a partial refund. and
The person (including non-traveling family members) with the medical condition has to be medically stable when you get your insurance and
You must get your travel insurance in the first 14 or 21 days after your first trip payment date (Travelex, Travel Guard, Travel Insured and TravelSafe) or no later than 24 Hours after you make your final Trip payment for CSA & HTH and
You have to cover your trip's full length.

Travelers worried about contracting SARS on the road may want to check their insurance. Steve Dasseos, who owns the online travel insurance company TripInsuranceStore.com, advises people to find out whether the illness would be covered under the medical portion of their policy, and also to familiarize themselves with exclusions, which can be numerous.
"To avoid any unpleasant surprises, people should definitely find out exactly what coverage the company they are considering will have for SARS," Dasseos said. |
