We are taking our boat from Florida to the Bahamas. If the seas are over 6 feet, we’ll be delayed getting to the Bahamas meaning we’ll lose the cost of our prepaid hotel. Can insure against this travel delay? The only portion we would like to insure is the cost of our hotel in the Bahamas. Sarah W.
Hi Sarah,
Your trip isn’t insurable for travel delay because you are taking your own vehicle.
Trip cancellation travel insurance doesn’t cover your travel delays when you are taking your own boat, car or airplane to your destination. You’d be wasting your money getting travel insurance to cover a travel delay for this trip.
You would still be covered for a trip cancellation or interruption due to a covered event, as well as the emergency medical and emergency medical transportation.
I hope this makes sense. If you want the right travel insurance advice, call us at 1-888-407-3854 and we'll help you figure it all out.
