My itinerary with Expedia is partially refundable if I have to cancel. I’d lose $800. How does trip insurance work if some of my cost is refundable? Would I get the $800 back in a trip cancellation claim or would it not help at all? Sincerely, Nicole
Hi Nicole, If you will get a cash refund (not credits, not vouchers) on all your other travel arrangements, then you can just insure the amount that’s non-refundable. In your case that’s $800.
If you were to cancel your trip for a covered reason any time before you leave, then yes, you will get the $800 paid to you as a trip cancellation claim.
