Shannon

Hi Shannon,

I’m sorry to break the bad news to you, but since you don’t yet have a cruise insurance plan, whatever your husband was hospitalized for is a pre-existing condition on any cruise, travel or trip insurance plan you buy. This means nothing related to it is covered: trip cancellation, trip interruption or medical treatment while on your trip.

It’s a pre-existing condition because it will have been treated or diagnosed in the 60, 90 or 180 days before you bought your policy.

What would I do in your situation? I suggest you go back to who ever told you your husband doesn’t have a pre-existing condition and get that in writing. Then, order the policy from them so they can back you up if you need their help on a claim.

You can learn more about travel insurance pre-existing conditions here.

Subscribe We’re taking a cruise March 1, 2009.
