Subsequent changes in covid conditions have elevated our anxiety for this trip, but a recent advisory from the U.S. State Department to &#8220;do not travel&#8221; to Spain have caused us to postpone the trip until perhaps 2022, or to cancel it altogether. Our provider has advised us that either postponement or cancellation will result in a forfeiture of only 250 euros for an internal plane flight for which there is no refund. The remainder of our deposit will be either refunded or held for a new deposit for a potential new trip. Our understanding is that our travel insurance will cover the forfeited portion of our deposit. Can you advise us what steps we must now do?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>If you are cancelling your trip for a covered reason, your policy will reimburse you for all your prepaid, non-refundable trip costs up to your $2,000 per person trip cost limit.<\/p>\n<p>However, cancelling your trip for a not-covered reason like government advisories, restrictions, fear, worry, etc, requires you to have had a plan with the Cancel For Any Reason coverage. Your plan doesn&#8217;t have the Cancel For Any Reason coverage.<\/p>\n<p>If you are not filing a claim, you may hold your policy for a future trip so you don&#8217;t lose its value. If you haven&#8217;t yet re-scheduled your trip, let us know and we will contact the insurance company for you to let them know. Later, when you arrange a new trip, we will take care of changing your travel dates.
