Jenny emailed me needing travel insurance information. In her original email she stated “neither I nor my husband have any pre-existing medical conditions”.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, I wrote her and asked “Have either of you had any changes in medication dosages, stopped taking any prescription or added any new ones the past 6 months?”<\/p>\n

Here’s Jenny’s response:<\/p>\n

We have had no changes in our medications. But, my husband’s blood thinner medication dosage was lowered just a month ago.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

My response was, “The adjustment in your husband’s medication causes it to be defined as a pre-existing medical condition. You have nothing to worry about because we can easily cover that. I’ll email you the prices & details shortly.”<\/p>\n

After some back and forth emails and a few phone calls, I was able to help Jenny and her husband get a trip cancellation plan that includes pre-existing medical condition coverage<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This experience underscores why people can have trouble with a travel insurance plan. Had I accepted her original statement of “neither her nor her husband have any pre-existing medical conditions”, I would have given her the wrong advice which could result in a denied claim.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
