I was sick with a bacterial infection in my lungs for the past 6 weeks. After going through that, I&#8217;d take a viral illness anytime!<\/p>\n<p>There are recurring questions that come up regularly in the claims process. A common one is &#8220;Should I Help the Travel Insurance Company Save Money?&#8221;. This usually involves find a cheaper way home when your trip has to be interrupted because something unexpectedly bad happened to you, a traveling companion or a non-traveling family member.<\/p>\n<p>For example, you have to fly home quick to Dallas from England because your brother-in-law got hit by a cement truck. Sometimes it&#8217;s cheaper to buy a round-trip ticket (ie &#8211; London-Dallas-London) than it is to for a one-way from London to Dallas.<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t do that. The travel insurance company has specific rules for how it pays claims. Even if you buy a cheaper round-trip ticket, the most you will be reimbursed for is one-half the cost of the ticket because you only used one-half of it.
