Hi Steve, My husband and I are planning a trip with another couple. We live in different states (Florida, Montana) so will make our own travel arrangements to meet and share a house on Nevis. We are all 51 years old.<\/p>\n

What is the best way for us to insure? Should each couple buy their own policy or should we buy one and split the cost? If something comes up and one couple has to cancel, would the other be covered? We will be making a deposit on the house in the next day or two. I’m not sure at this time when the final payment on the house must be made. There is a 90% cancellation fee within 3 months of our stay. None of us have purchased airfare at this time, so would that be included? <\/p>\n

I will appreciate any advice you can offer.<\/p>\n

You’ll want to be on separate policies because you live in different states. And, yes, you can insure your airfare. <\/p>\n

Even though each couple will be on a different trip insurance policy, you all are still covered as traveling companions<\/a> in case in one of you had to cancel your trip for a covered reason. <\/p>\n

The trip cost you want to insure is the prepaid non-refundable prepaid portion<\/a>. If you only lose 90% of the rental fee you don’t have to insure the 10% that would be refunded to you.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
