How to File a Travel Insurance Claim

Click here if your potentially have a claim or need to change your policy due to the Coronavirus

As a policyholder you have every right to file a claim. When you ask us if your claim will be covered, we tell you to the best of our knowledge. That said, the only way you can be sure if your claim will be paid or not is after you file your claim. The insurance company has the final say.

I had the unfortunate experience of needing to file a claim recently – your staff helped me understand what I needed to do. While the paperwork was a bit excessive, my claim was successful and my non-refundable costs were reimbursed in full.

As we promised you, we will help you with your claim. We won’t do everything for you. You still need to work with the travel insurance company and gather all the documents. Why are there so many denied claims? I (Steve) firmly believe that the majority of denied claims are because the insured travelers either received the wrong advice prior to purchase or that they were sold the wrong policy by an uninformed travel insurance seller. You get our help with claims. We even help you if you didn’t buy from us.

I don’t have a hollow guarantee like “No Complaint Policy”. The truth is that not all travel insurance claims are paid to a customer’s satisfaction. Sometimes the travel insurance company makes a mistake (I have gotten these resolved), but other times it’s not a payable claim. Read this Aug 18, 2016 Yelp review for a perfect example of what happens when someone assumes what they are doing is covered. We go to great lengths to educate you. If travel insurance isn’t a good idea for you to buy it, we will tell you not to buy it, If you insist, we will refuse to sell it to you. Here are some examples:

Forefinger bullet point travel insurance claim Don’t Buy Travel Insurance When You’re ill and Past the Deadlines
Forefinger bullet point travel insurance claim Caleb Should Not Buy Travel Insurance
Forefinger bullet point travel insurance claim Insurance Does Not Bail Out Your Mistakes

Before you start to whine about having to do all that work, ask yourself “When was the last time my travel agent or a company who sold me travel insurance gave me any service after they had my money?”

Buying any insurance is a risk. You are trading a known certainty (your hard earned money) for an unknown quantity – the promise of the insurance policy doing what it says it will do. That’s why I pre-screened & selected the plans I feel comfortable representing.

Travel Insurance Claim Paid in Full for Jon from Massachusetts: I wanted to follow up with you on your very helpful telephone calls as it relates to the claim that we ended up filing with Travel Insured.

Thanks to all of the details about the fine print on your web site (and the advice you gave me on the phone the Friday before when the storm was coming in), Travel Insured paid ($16,300 check came today May 9, 2014) for EVERYTHING (except a local cab we took to a restaurant and a few cash gratuities we didn’t have receipts for totaling about $100), including reimbursing us for 4 of the 7 lost days on the ship. What could have been a total disaster ended up becoming a very nice trip for my family (other than the crazy travel day getting there after the snowstorm).

I can’t thank you enough for the phenomenal information and advice on your web site and on the phone. Understanding the fine print in advance made all the difference in the world for our claim. We will be lifetime customers and we recommend you to everyone that we know! Click here to read Jon’s entire letter with all the details.
