Can I Cancel My Trip If I Don’t Feel Safe?

by Steve Dasseos on January 13, 2009

My wife and I may go to the Holy Land and Jordan. We’re in good health so insuring for that is not our concern. My question is: With the situation in Israel now and in the past the trip could be cancelled. Does any insurance cover you if your tour company cancels because they feel it is unsafe to go, or the government says they will not let Americans travel there?

Hi Ed,

Neither war nor feeling safe are regularly covered reasons under a trip insurance or travel insurance plan. That said, there are plans you can get that will cover you.

Those are the Cancel For Any Reason plans. You can see the details here:

Here’s something important to keep in mind: The “Cancel For Any Reason” is just that – cancelling a trip. It’s not “Interrupt For Any Reason”.

I hope this makes sense. If you want the right travel insurance advice, call us at 1-888-407-3854 and we'll help you figure it all out.
